About Me

A few words from MD Weems:

Some people know me as a writer. Some people know me as an artist.

No matter how you know me, you know that I am not only a highly creative person, but I also am dedicated to teaching others, especially children, in both writing and unlocking their potential in artwork.

Over the last 20 years, I have written more pieces than I can count. Articles, blogs, ebooks, text books, fiction novels, game guides, and more - mainly as a ghostwriter. I have spent lifetimes playing games for companies so that I could write about their games. I have spent countless hours taking boring subjects and creating something readable and fun. I have spent many moons stirring the creative juices to create art with words. If you would like to see a list of my writing accomplishments, make sure that you check out my written works page.

I released my first fiction title, The Vampire Strain, in December 2013. It is available in both paperback and digital format on Amazon.com. It ties my love of all things zombie in with a bit of vampires, conspiracies, and history. I plan to release a sequel in the next couple of years.

Since then, I have been working on other fictional titles and will be releasing one by the end of 2017.

I also do presentations for local schools to get people interested and more involved in writing. I'm always amazed at the questions that people ask about being a writer and what all is involved in it. If you would like to book me for a school presentation, please check out my page here on this site about speaking presentations.

Aside from writing, I am an avid painter. I have finally started selling artwork after over 15 years, attending shows and festivals, and getting out into the local art scene around Oklahoma and online. If you would like to see some of my work, you can see a large portion of my portfolio here (I do update this constantly). I mainly work with acrylics - for the most part. By that I mean that is the basis of what I do on canvas and other bases. From there, I add in other things that strike me, such as spray paint, rubbing alcohol, sugar, sand, and so on. I also do fluid acrylic on glassware, plates, and other items. When I'm not doing fluid works, I create works of art with animal skulls with engraving, paint, and more.

In 2016, I have started doing scuplted canvases. These are mainly larger pieces, at least 16x20, and several of them have won awards around Oklahoma. Most recently, a painting entitled "Duality" won second in the Oklahoma State Student Union Exhibition in April 2016.

I also do performance art pieces and have performed at several local Tulsa area festivals and events, including a RAW art show in Tulsa at the Vanguard. For more information about booking me for performance art, please see my page here on this site.

I post new artwork and written works on my Facebook and Twitter pages, feel free to follow me for information about events I am attending.

I have been featured in an article here on MigraineAgain.com that highlights how different neurological issues have shaped my artwork.

Just a bit about me...

Aside from being an eccentric writer and artist, there are a few things that help to keep me sane. I live in central Oklahoma with my family, including four kids, a chihuahua named Zeus, and other infamous reptiles. You can always recognize my signature blue hair and paint stained clothing. I always strive to find the bright side of any situation and bring a smile to everyone around me. Life is too short to frown.
